Backup power for real-time clocks and SRAM
The STMicroelectronics M4Z32-BR00SH1 is a Snaphat® integrated backup-management IC that combines a lithium battery with a 120 mAh capacity in a single 28-SOIC-compatible package. It handles the power switchover between the main supply and the backup cell, so a real-time clock or SRAM retains data during a power loss without external diodes or resistors.
Snap-In mounting and board integration
The Snaphat® package snaps into a standard 28-pin SOIC socket footprint (Snap-In mounting type) — the battery module sits above the host IC, saving board space by not requiring a separate coin-cell holder. The Tube packaging means the part ships in antistatic tubes for pick-and-place or manual assembly. Ground shipment only due to the lithium content — this is a standard restriction for lithium primary cells. Plan your logistics accordingly; air freight is not available for this part.
Active production and compliance status
The difference is the 120 mAh capacity versus the M4Z28's lower rating, which extends backup hold-up time.
