1 Mbit I²C EEPROM in SOIC-8 — 1 MHz clock, 500 ns access
The M24M01-RMN6P is a 1 Mbit serial EEPROM from STMicroelectronics, organized as 128K x 8 bits, communicating over an I²C bus at up to 1 MHz. The 500 ns access time means the part can deliver a byte within half a microsecond after the address is clocked in — fast enough for most firmware parameter storage and calibration tables where the host MCU polls the bus at 400 kHz or 1 MHz. Supply voltage spans 1.8 V to 5.5 V, so it works directly on 3.3 V or 5 V rails without an external regulator. Write cycle timing and memory endurance
Write cycle time is 5 ms per word or page. A page write can load up to 128 bytes in one I²C transaction, then the internal write cycle takes 5 ms — the bus is free during that time. For a 1 Mbit device, a full-chip rewrite at page granularity takes roughly 640 ms, which is typical for this density class. The I²C interface supports up to 1 MHz clock frequency, and the device acknowledges each byte. The 500 ns access time is the time from the address match to the first data bit on a read — the bus master must respect the minimum SCL low/high times per the I²C specification.
