32Kbit I²C EEPROM in an 8-pin DIP — legacy form factor for retrofit and repair
The STMicroelectronics M24C32-WBN6P is a 32Kbit serial EEPROM with an I²C interface, organized as 4K x 8 bits.
450 ns access time — timing margin on the I²C bus
At a 1 MHz clock (1 µs period), this leaves about 550 ns of setup margin before the next SCL edge — comfortable for most host controllers, but tight if the bus has heavy capacitive loading or multiple slaves. The 5 ms write cycle time (word or page) is typical for this density class; the host must poll the acknowledge polling sequence or insert a delay after each write.
Obsolete — sourcing through independent distribution
The M24C32-WBN6P carries an Obsolete lifecycle status from STMicroelectronics. This means ST no longer manufactures the part in its original DIP-8 package variant. For new designs, ST recommends migrating to the M24C32-WMN6TP (SOIC-8) or other surface-mount alternatives in the same M24C32 family.
