6-axis IMU with I²C/SPI — what the bus choice means for your host
The LSM6DSMTR is a 6-axis iNEMO inertial module from STMicroelectronics, combining a 3D accelerometer, 3D gyroscope, and temperature sensor in a single 14-LGA package measuring 2.5x3 mm. It communicates over either I²C or SPI — the host processor selects the bus protocol at power-up. I²C uses two wires (SDA, SCL) and is the common choice for pin-constrained designs; SPI offers higher data rates and a dedicated chip-select line, useful when the IMU shares a bus with other peripherals.

The small footprint suits space-constrained PCBs in wearables, IoT nodes, or handheld instruments.
