Active production — what it means for your BOM
The LF85CPT-TR: ROHS3 compliance is confirmed, so it meets the latest EU restriction directive without a transition risk.
PSRR and output — the specs that govern rail quality
PSRR is specified at 72 dB at 120 Hz, rolling off to 57 dB at 10 kHz — this means the regulator attenuates 120 Hz rectifier ripple by a factor of ~4000, but above 1 kHz the rejection drops and upstream switching noise starts to couple through. The fixed 8.5 V output at 500 mA with a maximum dropout of 0.7 V at full load means the input rail must stay above 9.2 V to maintain regulation; below that the output falls out of spec. Input voltage is rated up to 16 V, giving headroom for unregulated supplies or 12 V rails with tolerance.
Package and thermal — TO-252-5 PPAK board-fit
Enable control and protection features (over-current and over-temperature) are integrated, so no external supervisor is needed for basic fault handling.
