Fast recovery diode for PFC and high-frequency rectification

The 35 ns reverse recovery time is the key parameter that distinguishes this part from a standard 50/60 Hz rectifier. In a continuous-conduction-mode PFC boost stage operating at 100 kHz, a 35 ns trr means the diode snaps off quickly when the MOSFET turns on, minimising the reverse-recovery charge that the FET has to absorb. That directly reduces switching loss and ringing on the drain node. If the trr were much slower — say 200 ns — the same circuit would need a higher-current MOSFET or a snubber to survive the turn-on spike.
