5000Vrms isolation in a 4-pin gull-wing package
The Renesas NEPOC PS2381-1Y-V-L-AX is a single-channel optocoupler with a phototransistor output, rated for 5000Vrms isolation between input and output. It accepts DC input and delivers a transistor output with a current transfer ratio (CTR) of 100% to 300% at a forward current of 5mA.
CTR range and drive margin
With a CTR spanning 100% to 300% at 5mA forward current, this optocoupler provides a wide operating margin for the LED drive circuit. A minimum CTR of 100% means the output transistor can sink at least as much current as the LED forward current, which simplifies gain budgeting in logic-level isolation interfaces. The 300% maximum gives headroom for LED aging or temperature variation without saturating the output stage.
Switching speed and output ratings
Rise and fall times are 4µs and 5µs typical, placing this part in the general-purpose speed class — adequate for 10-100 kHz switching in relay drivers, AC mains zero-crossing detectors, and status feedback loops. The output transistor can handle up to 80V and 50mA continuous, with a Vce saturation maximum of 300mV at rated current. The 60mA absolute maximum forward current on the input side sets the LED drive limit.
Temperature range and environment
Rated for operation from -40°C to 115°C, the PS2381-1Y-V-L-AX covers industrial temperature requirements and can be used in outdoor telecom cabinets, factory-floor sensors, and engine-bay electronics where ambient temperatures stay below 115°C. The 5000Vrms isolation rating supports reinforced insulation for safety-critical applications per IEC 60950-1 and similar standards.
Lifecycle and compliance
For dual-sourcing or drop-in replacement evaluation, the NEPOC family includes several 4-pin gull-wing optocouplers with similar pinouts — confirm CTR and isolation voltage against your BOM requirements.
