600 MHz Cortex-M7 — real-time headroom without an MPU
The NXP MIMXRT106LDVL6A is an i.MX RT1060 crossover MCU built around a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7 single-core processor running at 600 MHz. It carries 1M x 8 on-chip RAM and 127 general-purpose I/O lines, with a peripheral set that includes Ethernet, USB OTG, CAN, and multiple serial interfaces — enough connectivity to replace a small MPU plus external PHY in a mid-complexity control board. The 196-MAPBGA (10x10 mm) package keeps the footprint tight, but the 0°C to 95°C junction temperature range limits it to indoor or sheltered environments; no automotive or extended-temp rating here.
Connectivity and I/O — what the 127 pins buy you
The 127 I/O lines feed into CANbus, EBI/EMI, Ethernet, I²C, MMC/SD/SDIO, SAI, SPDIF, SPI, UART/USART, and dual USB OTG interfaces. That is enough to wire a human-machine interface panel with Ethernet back to a PLC, a local CAN sensor bus, and a USB service port — all without an external switch or hub. The external program memory architecture (no on-chip Flash) means the boot firmware lives on a QSPI NOR or NAND; plan for a serial Flash footprint on the board and a bootloader that maps it into the Cortex-M7's instruction cache.
