What this 1:4 multiplexer buys you
The Microchip SY89544UMG-TR is a single 4:1 multiplexer from the Precision Edge® family, built to route one of four input signals to a single output with minimal skew and jitter. It runs on a tight 2.375V to 2.625V supply rail — that narrow window tells you this is a designed-for-purpose part for a regulated 2.5V plane, not something you drop onto a sloppy 3.3V bus. The 1 x 4:1 circuit means you get one selector with four data inputs, useful for clock or high-speed data switching where a single mux handles the fan-in.
Supply and temperature — the operating envelope
The 2.375V to 2.625V supply range is a ±5% window around 2.5V. If your board has a 2.5V rail with a ±2% regulator, you are fine. If you are pulling from a 3.3V or 1.8V rail, you need a local LDO. The single-supply architecture keeps the bias simple — one rail, no negative supply.
Package and mounting
The 32-VFQFN with exposed pad (5x5 mm body) is a standard high-speed package. The 0.5 mm pitch QFN is hand-solderable with a hot-air station and flux, but reflow with a stencil is the production method.
Lifecycle and compliance — no surprises
ROHS3 compliant covers EU and similar markets without exemption paperwork. The Precision Edge® series is an established Microchip family, so PCNs and EOL notices follow the standard notification cycle.
