Product details

The Microchip SY58028UMG is a single 4:1 multiplexer from the Precision Edge® family, designed for high-speed signal routing in systems that need to select one of four data or clock inputs onto a single output. It operates from either a 2.5V (2.375V to 2.625V) or 3.3V (3V to 3.6V) single supply, covering the two most common digital logic rails.

The dual-range supply (2.375V–2.625V and 3V–3.6V) lets this mux drop into either a 2.5V or 3.3V logic environment without a separate regulator. If your board already runs a 3.3V rail for the FPGA or ASIC bank, the SY58028UMG shares that rail directly. For lower-power 2.5V systems, the same part works — no need to stock a voltage-variant. The single-supply architecture simplifies the power tree: one bypass cap per rail pin, no split-plane hassle.

Industrial temperature rating and package thermal path

The 32-VFQFN with exposed pad (32-QFN 5x5 mm) pulls heat into the PCB ground plane through the center pad.

The Precision Edge® series has a long tail in telecom and datacom infrastructure, so the risk of an unannounced phase-out is low. For dual-sourcing resilience, the closest functional sibling is the SY89544UMG-TR (also a 1 x 4:1 multiplexer in the same package and temperature grade) — it is a tape-and-reel variant that shares the same footprint and supply range, though its availability channel may differ.
