Fixed 3.6V rail for noise-sensitive analog loads
The MIC5219-3.6YM5-TR is a fixed 3.6V output LDO regulator from Microchip Technology, delivering up to 500 mA with a maximum dropout voltage of 0.6V at full load. That dropout figure sets the minimum input-to-output headroom — if the input rail dips below 4.2V, the output starts falling out of regulation. A PSRR of 75 dB at 120 Hz means the regulator attenuates mains-frequency ripple from an upstream DC-DC converter by a factor of about 5600 — useful for powering analog front-ends or sensor bias where supply noise couples into the signal path.
Quiescent current and protection suit always-on designs
Quiescent current is 8 µA typical — the regulator's own draw is low enough that a battery-powered sensor node spending most of its time in sleep mode sees negligible drain from the LDO alone. Built-in protection covers over-current, over-temperature, and reverse polarity — these reduce the need for external clamping diodes or resettable fuses in ruggedized or field-powered equipment. An enable pin (active high) lets the system microcontroller gate the 3.6V rail entirely during deep sleep, cutting the regulator's draw to near zero.
