Digital temperature sensor with I²C/SMBus interface
The MIC281-5BM6 is a low-cost digital temperature sensor that measures both local die temperature and a remote diode-connected transistor, communicating over an I²C/SMBus interface. Local sensing covers -55°C to 125°C, while the remote channel is specified for 0°C to 100°C — the remote range matches the typical operating window of a CPU or FPGA hot-spot diode. Accuracy is ±3°C typical and ±5°C maximum across the full temperature range, which is sufficient for thermal monitoring and fan-speed control in embedded systems.
Supply and shutdown mode
The shutdown mode drops the quiescent current to near zero — useful for battery-powered designs where the sensor is polled intermittently rather than continuously.
Package and temperature grade
Housed in a 6-lead SOT-23-6 surface-mount package, the same footprint used by many general-purpose analog and mixed-signal ICs. Rated for -55°C to 125°C operating ambient temperature, covering industrial and extended-temperature applications.
