10mV/°C analog output — direct ADC interface
The MCP9700A-E/TO outputs an analog voltage that scales linearly at 10mV/°C, so a 0°C reading gives 0V and 100°C gives 1.0V. This slope matches the input range of most 10-bit or 12-bit ADCs without external scaling — the microcontroller's internal reference is usually enough. For a board-level temperature monitor or thermal-shutdown circuit, that uncertainty is acceptable without a calibration step.
Supply range and package — BOM-fit details
No separate LDO needed if the rail is within that window — the sensor's own quiescent current is low enough that it doesn't affect the supply budget. It fits breadboard prototyping and low-cost single-layer PCBs without a reflow step. The three pins are Vdd, Vss, and Vout — no external components required beyond a 0.1µF bypass cap near the supply pin.
The TO-92-3 package ships in bag (tube or bulk), not tape-and-reel — factor that into pick-and-place planning if you need automated assembly.
