Dual op-amp in 8-DIP for through-hole boards
The MCP6272-E/P is a dual general-purpose operational amplifier from Microchip Technology, packaged in an 8-DIP (0.300", 7.62mm) through-hole tube. It delivers a gain-bandwidth product of 2 MHz with a slew rate of 0.9V/µs, rail-to-rail output, and a supply current of 170µA per channel. The rail-to-rail output stage and 2 V to 6 V supply span make it suitable for single-supply, battery-powered sensor interfaces and signal conditioning where headroom is tight.
Slew rate and bandwidth for signal fidelity
At 0.9V/µs, the slew rate limits full-power bandwidth to roughly 140 kHz for a 2 V peak-to-peak output swing. For applications requiring faster edges — such as high-frequency filtering or fast ADC driving — the MCP6281-E/P offers 2.5V/µs at the cost of higher supply current (400 µA per channel). The 2 MHz gain-bandwidth product supports gains up to 100 with a closed-loop bandwidth of 20 kHz, adequate for audio, low-frequency control loops, and sensor amplification.
Active production with industrial temperature range
The -40°C to 125°C operating temperature range qualifies it for industrial and automotive environments without requiring a separate high-temp variant. The through-hole 8-DIP package is well-suited for prototyping, low-volume production, and rework scenarios where surface-mount reflow is impractical.
