Product details

CAN FD transceiver, 8 Mbps, PDIP-8, industrial temp

The MCP2561FD-E/P is a single-channel CAN FD transceiver from Microchip, supporting data rates up to 8 Mbps over the CAN bus. It provides the physical-layer interface between a CAN protocol controller and the differential bus lines, with a receiver hysteresis of 200 mV for noise immunity. This is a 5V-only transceiver (4.5V to 5.5V supply), so if your CAN controller runs at 3.3V, you will need external level translation or a transceiver with a VIO pin. The industrial temperature range of -40°C to 125°C qualifies it for under-hood automotive, outdoor telecom, and factory-floor applications where the ambient can swing beyond commercial limits.

Through-hole PDIP-8 package and mounting

Packaged in an 8-lead PDIP-8 (0.300" body width, 7.62 mm pitch), the MCP2561FD-E/P is through-hole mounted — ideal for prototyping, low-volume production, or boards where wave-solder is preferred over reflow. The DIP footprint is standard and easy to hand-solder or socket.

Active lifecycle, no obsolescence pressure

Microchip lists the MCP2561FD-E/P as Active with ROHS3 compliance.

Sourcing and availability

As an active Microchip part, the MCP2561FD-E/P can be sourced through authorized distribution channels. Sourced per RFQ.

Frequently asked questions

Is MCP2561FD-E/P obsolete or still active?

It is Active — no end-of-life notice or last-time-buy has been issued by Microchip. Standard lead times apply.

Can MCP2561FD-E/P be used with 3.3V microcontrollers?

No — the supply range is 4.5V to 5.5V. A 3.3V CAN controller needs level shifting or a transceiver with a separate VIO pin. The MCP2561FD-E/P does not have a VIO pin.
