CAN transceiver for high-temperature bus nodes
The MCP2557FDT-H/MNY is a single-channel CANbus transceiver from Microchip, rated for operation from -40°C to 150°C — the upper end covers under-hood automotive and industrial sensor nodes where standard 125°C parts hit their derating ceiling. It integrates one driver and one receiver, uses a 4.5V to 5.5V supply rail, and provides 200 mV of receiver hysteresis for noise rejection on the bus.
Package and footprint for tight layouts
Housed in an 8-TDFN (2x3 mm) package with an exposed pad, the part requires a thermal land on the PCB — the datasheet recommends a 1.6 x 1.6 mm pad with four vias to the ground plane for heat sinking. The supply voltage tolerance (4.5V–5.5V) means a 5V nominal rail with ±10% margin stays inside the operating window; no external regulator is needed if the bus-side supply is clean.
Active lifecycle and sourcing posture
Available in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) for prototyping; the 8-TDFN package is compatible with standard reflow profiles used for lead-free assemblies.
