Industrial temp grade and protection suite
The MCP1826-2502E/ET: On-chip protection includes over-temperature shutdown, short-circuit current limiting, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) — the regulator powers down cleanly if the input sags below the UVLO threshold, preventing erratic output during brownout conditions.
Package and thermal pad integration
Housed in a TO-263-6 (D²Pak) with five leads plus an exposed tab (5-DDPAK), the package is surface-mount with the tab as the main thermal path. Without that plane, the 1A output at high ambient will push the junction above the 125°C ceiling.
PSRR and quiescent current for noise-sensitive rails
Power-supply rejection ratio is 60 dB at 100 Hz — this attenuates 100 Hz ripple from a rectified mains supply by a factor of 1000, so the 2.5V rail stays clean for analog front-ends or sensor bias. Quiescent current is 220 µA typical, rising slightly with load; the Enable pin lets the system shut the regulator down to near-zero draw when the rail is unused.
