6 A peak output — what it buys you
The MCP14A0601-E/SN is a single-channel low-side gate driver from Microchip, designed to drive N-channel or P-channel MOSFETs with a peak output current of 6 A source and 6 A sink. That 6 A peak rating means it can charge and discharge the gate capacitance of medium-power MOSFETs quickly, keeping switching losses low in a 48 V or 24 V bus converter, a DC-DC module, or a motor pre-drive stage.
Logic input thresholds are set at 0.8 V (VIL) and 2 V (VIH), so it interfaces directly with 3.3 V or 5 V controllers without a level shifter.
10 ns edges — layout matters
Those fast edges minimise cross-conduction losses, but they also demand a tight layout — the driver output loop and the MOSFET gate loop need to be short, with a local bypass capacitor between VDD and GND right at the IC pins. The 8-SOIC package (0.154" wide, 3.90 mm body) is a standard footprint that fits into existing power-stage layouts.

The 150°C ceiling gives headroom for self-heating from the 6 A peaks in a compact layout.
