Single-channel low-side driver with 1.5 A peak drive
The MCP1416RT-E/OT is a single-channel, non-inverting low-side gate driver from Microchip Technology, rated for 1.5 A peak source and sink current. It drives IGBTs, N-channel, and P-channel MOSFETs from a 4.5 V to 18 V supply rail, making it a direct fit for switching power supplies, motor pre-drive stages, and DC-DC converter gate drive circuits where a single low-side device is needed.
20 ns rise/fall and logic-level thresholds
Typical rise and fall times are both 20 ns into the specified load, which keeps switching losses low in the 100 kHz to 1 MHz range. The SOT-23-5 package (SC-74A case) keeps the board footprint small, but the 1.5 A peak current means the PCB copper and thermal vias under the package must handle the transient power dissipation — the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance for this package is typically around 200°C/W, so repetitive high-frequency switching at full current needs a layout review.
