What the integrated PHY means for your BOM
The LAN9211-ABZJ integrates a 10/100 Base-T/TX PHY directly on-chip, eliminating the need for a separate PHY IC and its associated magnetics interface components. The parallel host interface connects directly to the external bus of most ARM, x86, or FPGA-based processors without requiring an external MAC. This is a straightforward fit for legacy designs that lack a dedicated Ethernet MAC peripheral, though the parallel bus limits throughput to roughly 100 Mbps line rate — adequate for 10/100 applications.
Temperature grade and environment fit
Rated for 0°C to 70°C, this part is intended for commercial indoor equipment — office networking gear, point-of-sale terminals, building automation controllers, and similar climate-controlled environments. It is not qualified for industrial or automotive temperature ranges; designs that must operate below freezing or above 70°C ambient should look at the industrial-temperature variants in the same family.
Package and footprint considerations
Supplied in a 56-VFQFN exposed pad package, 8x8 mm body. The exposed thermal pad must be soldered to a ground-plane copper island on the PCB for adequate heat dissipation.
Sourcing and lifecycle status
ROHS3 compliant. Sourcing is straightforward through authorized distribution; no minimum order quantity restrictions beyond standard distributor terms. For current pricing and lead time, submit an RFQ against your BOM quantity.
