RF switch and attenuator core — GMP4212-GM1 PIN diode
The GMP4212-GM1 is a single PIN diode from the GIGAMITE® series, housed in a non-hermetic plastic 0805 (2012 Metric) SMT package. It is designed for RF switching, attenuator, and limiter applications where low on-state resistance and low off-state capacitance are required. The 1.5 Ohm series resistance at 20 mA forward current and 100 MHz keeps insertion loss under control in the on-state, while the 0.25 pF capacitance at 10 V reverse bias and 1 MHz provides isolation in the off-state.
What the key RF ratings mean for your design
The 1.5 Ohm series resistance at 20 mA forward current and 100 MHz is the on-state loss figure. The 0.25 pF capacitance at 10 V and 1 MHz determines off-state isolation. The 100 V peak reverse voltage sets the RF power handling ceiling. In a shunt switch, the diode sees the peak RF voltage across it when off.
The non-hermetic plastic 0805 package means the die is protected by mold compound, not a sealed cavity, so moisture sensitivity and conformal coating should be considered for high-humidity or condensing environments.
It is current-production — no last-time-buy or obsolescence risk on the horizon.
