The Microchip DSPIC33CK64MP503-I/M5 is a 16-bit dsPIC33CK digital signal controller running at 100 MHz, built for real-time control loops in motor drives, power conversion, and functional-safety applications. What sets this part apart from a general-purpose PIC24 is the dedicated Motor Control PWM module and a Quadrature Encoder Interface (QEI) on-chip — these peripherals offload the timing-critical commutation and position-feedback tasks so the core can run the control algorithm without interrupt jitter.
Peripheral set for closed-loop analog control
The data converter block includes 16 channels of 12-bit ADC and 3 channels of 12-bit DAC — the ADC captures phase currents and DC-link voltage, while the DAC can output an analog reference or a test signal for the control loop.
