20.5 MHz fixed-point DSP with 288 B RAM
The DSP320C10/L: It integrates 288 bytes of on-chip RAM and operates from a single 5.00 V supply for both I/O and core — no separate core rail needed.
Memory and clock — the BOM-fit boundaries
The 20.5 MHz clock rate gives a 50 ns instruction cycle — enough for a 256-tap FIR filter at 8 kHz sample rate, but the 288-byte on-chip RAM is the real constraint. That RAM holds about 144 coefficients at 16 bits each; larger data buffers or delay lines push you to external SRAM accessed through the parallel bus. The single 5 V supply simplifies the power tree but limits direct interfacing with 3.3 V peripherals without level shifters.
Active production, RoHS non-compliant
The trade-off is RoHS non-compliance: the part contains lead in the solder finish or die-attach, so it is excluded from EU RoHS-compliant assemblies and most consumer-electronics BOMs. For defence, aerospace, or legacy industrial spares where RoHS exemption applies, this is not a blocker.
