The Microchip ATF16V8C-7PI is an electrically erasable programmable logic device (EE PLD) from the 16V8 series, offering a propagation delay of 7.5 ns and 8 macrocells in a 20-pin through-hole PDIP package. It operates from a 5 V supply and is suited for address decoding, bus-interface logic, and state-machine implementations in legacy 5 V systems.
The 7.5 ns propagation delay sets the maximum system clock frequency for registered logic — at 133 MHz typical, this part keeps combinatorial paths short enough for most 5 V bus interfaces without adding wait states. The 8 macrocells provide enough flip-flop and product-term resources for a 16-bit address decoder, a small state machine, or a handful of registered outputs. The 5 V input voltage is fixed; the part does not tolerate 3.3 V I/O without level translation.
