5 ns EE PLD in a 20-TSSOP footprint
The Microchip ATF16V8C-5XC is an electrically erasable programmable logic device (EE PLD) from the 16V8 series, offering 8 macrocells with a 5 ns pin-to-pin propagation delay. It operates from a 5V supply and is housed in a 20-TSSOP surface-mount package (0.173" body width, 4.40 mm). The EE architecture allows in-system reprogramming, making it suitable for glue-logic consolidation, address decoding, and state-machine designs in industrial control, telecom, and legacy equipment where a 5V PLD is still required.
The 5 ns propagation delay (tPD) sets the combinatorial-logic throughput ceiling. In a 5V system, that delay leaves margin for the downstream device.
20-TSSOP: board-fit checklist
The 20-TSSOP package (0.173" body, 4.40 mm width) is a fine-pitch SMD. The PCB land pattern should match the JEDEC variation for this body size. Reflow profile follows standard lead-free or tin-lead solder paste.
