The Microchip ATF16V8B-10PI is an electrically-erasable programmable logic device (EE PLD) from the 16V8 family, delivering a 10 ns propagation delay from input to combinatorial output. It integrates 8 macrocells, each configurable as registered or combinatorial logic, and operates from a single 5V supply. The 10 ns speed rating means the part can support system clocks up to about 100 MHz in registered mode, with the combinatorial path adding one gate delay. For glue-logic consolidation — address decoding, state machines, bus arbitration — this is fast enough to keep up with most legacy 5V CPLD and FPGA interfaces without inserting wait states.
For sustainment programs already using this PLD, the 20-pin PDIP footprint (0.300-inch body width) is a legacy through-hole package. Board rework or replacement with a pin-compatible alternative requires checking the macrocell architecture and programming algorithm — the 16V8 family has several speed and temperature variants that may drop in without a board spin.

Eight macrocells give the designer up to eight registered outputs or a mix of combinatorial and registered logic, with each macrocell containing a programmable D-type flip-flop. The 5V-only supply rail matches legacy 5V TTL/CMOS logic families — no separate Vccio or core voltage needed.
