Supply rails and bus timing
The 1.7V minimum supply lets this EEPROM run straight off a 1.8V rail without a regulator, handy in battery-operated handhelds. The 400 kHz I2C clock is the standard Fast-mode rate — your bus master must support it, but most modern MCU I2C peripherals do. Access time is 900 ns, which is typical for I2C EEPROM at this density; the write cycle time per word or page is 5 ms, so budget that latency when writing configuration tables or data logs.
The 8-TSSOP body is 4.40 mm wide with a 0.65 mm pitch — small enough to save board area, but not so fine that hand rework is a problem. The tube delivery means the parts arrive aligned and static-safe, but if your line runs Tape & Reel exclusively, the -SHM-T variant is the same die in a different carrier.
