1 Kbit EEPROM for harsh environments
The Microchip 93LC46AT-E/SN is a 1Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 128 x 8 bits, communicating over a Microwire bus at up to 2 MHz.
2 MHz clock — timing margin on a Microwire bus
The 2 MHz clock rate sets the maximum bit time at 500 ns. At this speed the Microwire bus needs a clean clock edge and short trace lengths — a few inches of PCB trace at 2 MHz is fine, but long cables or daisy-chained loads will eat into setup/hold margin. The 93LC46CT-I/SN sibling runs at 3 MHz, but it tops out at 85°C; if your design needs the full 125°C, the 2 MHz part is the only choice in this family.
The base product number 93LC46 covers multiple density and temperature variants, so the die and package are in ongoing production.
8-SOIC — fits standard footprints
The 8-SOIC (0.154" width, 3.90 mm body) is a common footprint shared with many 93LC46 and 24LCxx serial EEPROMs. If your board already has a Microwire EEPROM in an SOIC-8, this part drops in without a layout change. The tape-and-reel option suits automated pick-and-place; cut-tape is available for prototypes.
