256 Kbit SPI EEPROM in a compact DFN
The Microchip 25LC256-I/MF is a 256 Kbit serial EEPROM with an SPI interface, organized as 32K x 8 bits.
10 MHz SPI — throughput for firmware staging
At 10 MHz the SPI bus reads or writes a full 256 Kbit page in about 3.2 ms, excluding the 5 ms write-cycle time per page. That throughput suits parameter storage, calibration tables, or a small OTA staging buffer where the host MCU polls the /HOLD or /WP lines during the write cycle. The 5 ms write-cycle time is per page — sequential writes to different pages overlap with the bus release.
Industrial temperature grade — outdoor and factory-floor fit
The non-volatile memory retains data across power loss, and the SPI interface keeps the pin count low — four signals plus supply and ground.
Microchip lists the 25LC256-I/MF as Active. For a production BOM this means you can commit the line without sourcing risk from imminent discontinuation.
