8Kbit serial EEPROM for configuration and calibration storage
The Microchip 25LC080DT-E/MNY is an 8Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 1K x 8 bits, accessed through an SPI bus at clock rates up to 10 MHz. It stores firmware parameters, calibration constants, device configuration, and small data logs that must survive power loss. The non-volatile memory cell supports a minimum of 1 million erase/write cycles per byte and 200-year data retention — typical for this family — so it fits applications that write infrequently but need the data intact for the product's service life. The SPI interface handles standard mode 0,0 (CPOL=0, CPHA=0) and mode 1,1 (CPOL=1, CPHA=1) — the datasheet timing diagrams confirm both, so it mates with most MCU SPI peripherals without glue logic. Write-cycle time is 5 ms max for a page or byte write. That is a polling or interrupt-driven wait in the firmware — not a blocking delay for the rest of the system, but the host must not send the next command before the cycle completes or the write is lost.
The operating temperature grade covers -40°C to +125°C (TA). That is the industrial-plus range, suitable for under-hood automotive, outdoor telecom cabinets, engine-bay sensors, factory-floor controllers, and any environment where the ambient can swing past 85°C. The 125°C upper limit also covers the self-heating in a sealed enclosure with no forced airflow.
ROHS3 compliance is confirmed — no restricted substances above the threshold limits, so the part passes EU RoHS directives without an exemption claim.
