16 Kbit I²C EEPROM in 8-TSSOP — supply and temperature fit
The 24FC16-I/ST is a 16 Kbit (2K x 8) serial EEPROM from Microchip, communicating over I²C at up to 1 MHz — Fast-mode+ compliant. Its supply range of 1.7V to 5.5V (cite:) lets it sit on a 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, or 5V rail without a local regulator, which simplifies BOM voltage planning on mixed-supply boards. The 8-TSSOP package (cite:) occupies a compact footprint with 0.65 mm pin pitch, routable on a two-layer board.
1 MHz bus speed and write-cycle timing
At 1 MHz clock (cite:), a full 16 Kbit sequential read completes in about 16 ms. The page write cycle time is 5 ms (cite:) — for a 16-byte page, that means 128 write cycles to fill the whole array. The 450 ns access time (cite:) is the random-read access from the I²C address byte; it sets the bus turnaround window, not the streaming throughput.
