256 Mbit NOR flash with Quad I/O for embedded boot and data logging
The Infineon S25FL256SAGMFIR10 is a 256 Mbit (32M x 8) NOR flash from the FL-S series, organized for code-shadowing and parameter storage in embedded systems. Rated for 133 MHz clock frequency, the Quad I/O interface delivers a theoretical peak read throughput of 532 Mbit/s (four lanes at 133 MHz). In practice the controller's DMA engine and the bus arbitration determine the sustained rate, but the flash itself does not limit a typical Cortex-M or RISC-V boot sequence.
Supply and temperature envelope
The 16-SOIC footprint is a common NOR flash layout; a board designed for a 16-pin SOIC flash from another vendor often accepts this part without a layout change, provided the supply and signal assignments match.
The manufacturer, Infineon Technologies, continues to support the FL-S series for new designs. RoHS3 compliant (2011/65/EU + 2015/863), which removes the need for exemption declarations in EU-restricted-material reporting.
