Half-bridge gate driver with integrated bootstrap diode
The IR2153D is a half-bridge gate driver from Infineon designed to drive two N-channel MOSFETs in a synchronous half-bridge configuration. It integrates a bootstrap diode for the high-side supply, eliminating an external component, and uses an RC input circuit for oscillator timing — a common topology in offline switch-mode power supplies, electronic ballasts, and DC-DC converters up to 600 V bus voltage.
The high-side bootstrap voltage is rated to 600 V maximum, which means this driver can float the high-side gate drive on top of a rectified mains rail (up to about 400 VDC nominal) with margin for transients. The 10 V to 15.6 V supply range matches standard bias rails from auxiliary windings or linear regulators.
