Half-bridge gate driver with RC input and 600V bootstrap
The IR21531STRPBF is a synchronous half-bridge gate driver from Infineon, designed to drive two N-Channel MOSFETs in a half-bridge configuration. Its RC input circuit simplifies dead-time generation with an external resistor and capacitor, reducing component count compared to a separate PWM controller plus dead-time logic. The bootstrap supply supports a high-side voltage up to 600 V, making the part suitable for DC-link rails in motor drives, UPS inverters, and HID or fluorescent lamp ballasts. The 10 V to 15.6 V supply range covers standard 12 V and 15 V bias rails.
Rise/fall timing and temperature envelope
Typical rise time of 80 ns and fall time of 45 ns set a minimum dead-time window of roughly 125 ns to avoid shoot-through. The asymmetry means the low-side turn-off is faster than the high-side turn-on — a detail the dead-time resistor must accommodate. No separate industrial or automotive grade is needed — this single variant spans both.
Active production and package form
The 0.154-inch body width (3.90 mm) is a standard SOIC footprint; no special land pattern or thermal pad is required for the 8-lead version. ROHS3 compliant — no exemptions that would require a separate lead-free or halogen-free variant. The 'PBF' suffix confirms the lead-free finish on the package terminations.
