3-phase half-bridge gate driver for motor and inverter stages

The IR2132SPBF is a 3-phase half-bridge gate driver from Infineon, designed to drive IGBTs and N-channel MOSFETs in inverter and motor-drive power stages. It integrates six drivers — one high-side and one low-side per phase — in a single 28-SOIC package. Supply voltage range is 10 V to 20 V, with a bootstrap high-side voltage rating up to 600 V, covering common 3-phase bus voltages up to 400 VAC rectified.

Output drive strength and switching speed

Peak output current is 250 mA source and 500 mA sink, with typical rise and fall times of 80 ns and 35 ns respectively into a standard gate load. The asymmetric sink/source ratio helps pull the gate down quickly during turn-off, reducing the dead-time margin needed in the PWM scheme.

The 28-SOIC (7.50 mm wide body) is a surface-mount package with a standard 1.27 mm pitch, suitable for reflow assembly on multi-layer boards with adequate copper pour for heat spreading.
