Half-bridge gate driver for motor-drive and power-converter rails
The Infineon IR21084STRPBF is a half-bridge gate driver designed to drive IGBTs and N-Channel MOSFETs in a half-bridge configuration. It operates from a 10V to 20V supply rail and integrates a bootstrap diode rated for 600V maximum on the high-side, making it suitable for DC bus voltages up to that level in motor drives, UPS systems, and switch-mode power supplies.
The 10V to 20V supply range covers standard bias rails for industrial gate-drive circuits — 12V and 15V are the common tie points. The 600V high-side bootstrap voltage (max) sets the ceiling for the floating high-side driver, not the low-side supply; the low-side VCC still stays within the 10V-20V window. For a 400V DC bus (typical in three-phase motor drives), the bootstrap rating gives margin. The 0.8V VIL and 2.9V VIH logic thresholds are compatible with 3.3V and 5V controller outputs, so no level-shifter is needed between the MCU/PWM controller and the driver inputs.
