800 V CoolMOS P7 — what this rating means for the BOM
The through-hole TO-251-3 (IPak) package suits designs where a compact board footprint and manual assembly are priorities — common in auxiliary power supplies, LED drivers, and battery chargers where the MOSFET is heatsunk to the PCB copper or a small clip-on heatsink. Operating junction temperature spans -55°C to 150°C, covering industrial and outdoor telecom enclosures where ambient heat and self-heating stack up. The 51 W power dissipation at case temperature gives a derating starting point for the thermal design.
Active lifecycle — no LTB risk for new designs
No last-time-buy or end-of-life notice is in effect, so the part can be specified into new production BOMs without near-term obsolescence risk. The CoolMOS P7 series is Infineon's mainstream high-voltage MOSFET platform, so supply continuity and second-source availability through the same family are strong. For dual-sourcing, a buyer can evaluate other P7 parts with matching voltage and package — the family shares the same die technology and footprint options.
