1.5 A buck regulator with 2 MHz switching and PWM dimming
The ILD8150XUMA1 is a DC-DC step-down (buck) LED driver from Infineon, delivering up to 1.5 A per channel from a single output. Switching at 2 MHz keeps the inductor and output capacitor small — the ripple frequency is well above the audible band, so the driver is suitable for interior lighting where acoustic noise from magnetics is a concern. PWM dimming control is integrated, allowing direct duty-cycle brightness adjustment from an external PWM source without an additional series FET.
Package, temperature grade, and board-fit
Housed in an 8-pin SOIC (PG-DSO-8, 3.90 mm wide body), the driver is a surface-mount component that fits a standard SOIC-8 footprint — no exposed pad, so the board layout is straightforward. Internal switching FETs are integrated — no external MOSFET needed — reducing BOM count and layout complexity for a compact LED driver stage.
