Buck LED driver with integrated switch — 1.5 A, 60 V input
The ILD6150XUMA1 is a step-down (buck) DC-DC regulator from Infineon, purpose-built for LED lighting applications. It integrates the switching FET internally, so the BOM stays compact — no external power transistor needed for the 1.5 A output channel. The 4.5 V to 60 V input range covers automotive battery rails (12 V, 24 V) with headroom for load-dump transients, as well as industrial 48 V supplies. The 1 MHz switching frequency lets the output inductor and capacitor shrink, saving board area in space-constrained lamp modules or linear-strip drivers.
Dimming flexibility and thermal envelope
Both analog and PWM dimming are supported — analog dimming adjusts the LED current linearly, while PWM dimming modulates the on/off duty cycle at a frequency above visible flicker. This gives the design team two options: analog for continuous brightness control with no switching noise, PWM for high-ratio dimming down to deep dim levels. The junction temperature range extends to 150 °C, which means the driver can sit on an aluminum-core PCB inside a sealed LED luminaire or under the hood of a vehicle without derating prematurely. The exposed-pad PG-DSO-8 package (3.90 mm width) conducts heat through the pad to the PCB copper plane — the thermal vias under the pad are the critical path for keeping the junction below the limit.
