Offline flyback switcher with 800 V avalanche-rated MOSFET
The Infineon ICE3AR0680VJZXKLA1 is a monolithic offline flyback switcher from the CoolSET™F3R family, integrating a CoolMOS™ power MOSFET with an 800 V breakdown voltage and a PWM controller in a single PG-DIP-7-1 through-hole package. It delivers up to 82 W of output power at a fixed 100 kHz switching frequency, with built-in fault protection covering over-load, over-temperature, and over-voltage conditions. The part is designed for isolated AC-DC flyback converters in applications like auxiliary power supplies, industrial bias rails, and AC adapters where board space is tight and component count needs to stay low.
Active, no LTB risk — but watch the package and the heatsink question
The through-hole PG-DIP-7-1 package is a 7-lead DIP variant with a tab for heatsinking. For continuous operation near 82 W, an external heatsink is almost certainly required; the junction temperature rating goes to 150°C, but the package's thermal impedance means you'll need to move heat out of the tab. The part is ROHS3 compliant, so it fits RoHS-driven BOMs without an exemption.
Fault protection and bias supply — what's inside
The controller integrates over-load, over-temperature, and over-voltage protection on-chip. The start-up voltage is 17 V, and the Vcc supply range is 10.5 V to 27 V.
