What this CoolSET F3 switcher brings to a 32 W flyback
The Infineon ICE3A1065ELJFKLA1 is an integrated offline flyback switcher from the CoolSET F3 family, combining a 650V CoolMOS avalanche-rated MOSFET with a PWM controller in a single PG-DIP-8 through-hole package. It delivers up to 32 W of isolated output power at a 100 kHz switching frequency, with a maximum duty cycle of 75%. The part includes a full protection suite — current limiting, open-loop, overload, over-temperature, and over-voltage — so the external supervision bill stays lean. The supply range (Vcc) spans 10.5 V to 26 V, with an 18 V startup threshold that gives clean power-on sequencing.
32 W and 650 V — what those ratings mean for the BOM
The 32 W power rating is the continuous output this part can sustain in a typical flyback topology with adequate thermal management. Derate for ambient above 50°C or for tight enclosures. The 650 V breakdown voltage on the integrated MOSFET gives comfortable headroom for universal AC input (85–265 VAC) designs — the reflected voltage plus leakage spike stays well under the rating even with a standard snubber. At 100 kHz the transformer can be wound on a smaller core than a 65 kHz design, saving board area and copper weight, but the switching losses are higher; plan the heatsink accordingly.
