Why the 550 ns access time and 1 MHz clock matter
The 550 ns access time is the time from address latch to data valid on the bus. On a 1 MHz I²C line (bit period 1 µs), that timing leaves enough margin for the master to clock out the address byte and still meet setup/hold windows — no need for wait-state insertion on most ARM Cortex-M or 8-bit MCU I²C peripherals. Compared to the FM24V01A-GTR (130 ns access time, 3.4 MHz clock), this part trades raw speed for a wider supply range and the same industrial temperature grade, which keeps the BOM simpler when the host isn't pushing the bus to its limit.
