What this PSoC 1 brings to a BOM
The Infineon CY8C24094-24AXI is an 8-bit PSoC 1 microcontroller built around the M8C core running at 24 MHz. It carries 16 KB of Flash program memory and 1K x 8 of RAM — modest storage, but the real draw is the analog front-end: 48 channels of 14-bit ADC and two 9-bit DACs, paired with 56 general-purpose I/O. That many ADC channels in a small-Flash 8-bit part is unusual; it targets designs that need to digitise a lot of slow analog signals — think multi-sensor monitoring, touch interfaces, or control panels — without adding external muxes or a second MCU. The 100-VFBGA package (6x6 mm) keeps board area tight, but the fine-pitch BGA means the PCB fab and rework station need to handle it. USB connectivity is on-chip, along with I²C, SPI, and UART/USART, so it can talk to a host processor or a sensor bus directly.
It is ROHS3 compliant. If dual-sourcing flexibility matters, the CY8C29566-24AXIT is a functional peer in the same PSoC 1 family — same core, same speed, same Flash size — but with fewer ADC channels and a different I/O count, so verify the pin-for-pin fit against your layout.
