The Cypress CY7C1021B-12VC is a 1Mbit asynchronous SRAM organized as 64K x 16 bits, with a 12 ns access time that sets the bus-cycle floor for the memory interface. At 12 ns, this part keeps up with fast 16-bit microcontrollers and DSPs without inserting wait states, provided the address-to-data path stays within the timing budget. The write cycle time matches the read access at 12 ns, so back-to-back writes do not stall the bus. Supply range is 4.5V to 5.5V, which aligns with legacy 5 V logic families.
The 44-SOJ surface-mount package (10.16 mm body width) is a legacy footprint; verify the existing board's SOJ land pattern before committing the BOM.
