What this PROFET® switch does and where it fits
The Infineon BTT60502ERAXUMA1 is a dual-channel high-side power switch from the automotive PROFET® family, qualified to AEC-Q100. It switches resistive, capacitive, and moderate inductive loads on automotive rails. Each of the two N-channel outputs delivers up to 3 A continuous, with a typical on-resistance of 50 mOhm. The load supply range spans 5 V to 36 V, and the junction temperature rating of -40°C to 150°C covers under-hood and engine-bay environments.
Fault protection — what is built in and what still needs external parts
The BTT60502ERAXUMA1 integrates current limiting (fixed threshold), open-load detection, over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage clamping. That covers the common failure modes for a high-side driver: a shorted load won't blow the switch, a disconnected load gets flagged, and a thermal runaway trips before damage. No external sense resistor or comparator is needed for these protections. The input is a simple on/off logic signal (non-inverting), and no Vcc supply is required — the switch is self-powered from the load voltage.
Package and mounting — the exposed-pad requirement
The part comes in a package with an exposed pad (Infineon code PG-TDSO-14-31). The pad is the main thermal path; a PCB layout with a thermal via array under the pad is expected for any load above about 1 A per channel. The package footprint is 3.90 mm wide body, 0.154" pitch — standard SOIC-14 land pattern, but the centre pad adds a solder-paste stencil opening. Tape & Reel or Cut Tape options are available for volume or prototype quantities.
Lifecycle and compliance — active, ROHS3, AEC-Q100
The BTT60502ERAXUMA1 is listed as Active with no end-of-life notice. It is ROHS3 compliant and carries AEC-Q100 automotive qualification. For a production BOM, this means no near-term LTB risk and full regulatory acceptance in EU and global markets.
