4 A peak into a half-bridge
The 2EDL8124GXUMA1 is an Infineon EiceDriver™ high-side and low-side gate driver rated for 4 A peak source and 4 A peak sink current. That 4 A peak drives the gate charge of a pair of N-channel MOSFETs in a half-bridge fast enough to keep switching losses in check — think 45 ns typ rise and fall times into a reasonable gate load. The bootstrap diode is integrated for the high-side supply, with a 90 V max bootstrap voltage ceiling.
PG-VDSON-8-4 footprint and rework
The exposed pad needs a good solder joint to the board copper for heat sinking — the pad is the primary thermal path. Pin 1 is marked on the package top; orientation is straightforward under a microscope. The 8-VDFN is hand-reworkable with hot air if you preheat the board to 100°C and keep the nozzle off the plastic. No hidden leads under the body, so inspection after reflow is simple.
Supply rails and temperature grade
Operating supply range is 8 V to 17 V, which covers standard 12 V gate-drive rails and leaves margin for a regulated 15 V supply. The input is non-inverting and the two channels are independent — each channel drives its own MOSFET with separate control inputs. ROHS3 compliant per the lifecycle record.
