What this isolated gate driver is
The Infineon 1EDI10I12MFXUMA1 is a single-channel isolated gate driver from the EiceDriver™ series, using magnetic coupling for signal isolation between the PWM input and the power-stage output. It is designed to drive IGBTs and power MOSFETs in inverter, motor drive, and switched-mode power supply applications where galvanic isolation is required between the controller and the high-voltage side. The output supply range of 13V to 18V covers the typical gate drive voltage for most IGBT modules, and the 9ns typical rise time and 6ns typical fall time keep switching losses manageable in hard-switched topologies.
The 9ns rise and 6ns fall times (typical) are the headline switching-speed figures. A 9ns rise edge means the gate driver can charge the IGBT input capacitance quickly, reducing turn-on losses, but the fast edge also injects more common-mode current through the isolation barrier — the magnetic coupling here handles that transient immunity without the LED aging of an optocoupler. The 13V to 18V output supply range is sized for standard IGBT gate thresholds; if your module specifies a 15V gate drive, this driver sits right in the middle of its operating window. The -40°C to 150°C junction temperature rating covers both cold-start in outdoor cabinets and the self-heating near a 150°C IGBT baseplate — no derating concern for industrial or automotive under-hood environments.
