The 35V clamping voltage sits above the maximum operating voltage of a 24V nominal rail (typically 28-30V during load dump) but below the absolute maximum of most 5V or 3.3V transceivers. This gives the suppressor headroom to stay out of conduction during normal operation while catching transients before they reach the protected IC. Because it uses polymer technology rather than a silicon avalanche junction, the PolySurg device exhibits lower capacitance than a standard TVS diode — important for preserving signal integrity on CAN, LIN, or high-speed data lines where added capacitance would round the edges.
