Polymer ESD clamp for automotive signal lines

The Eaton 0603ESDA-MLP7 is a single-circuit polymer ESD suppressor from the PolySurg series, qualified to AEC-Q200 for automotive electronics. It clamps transients at 35V, protecting sensitive I/O and data lines on 24V or 12V vehicle buses. Tape-and-reel or cut-tape packaging means you can grab a few for a breadboard prototype or order production reels.

What the 35V clamp means for your BOM

The 35V clamping voltage sits above the maximum operating voltage of a 24V nominal rail (typically 28-30V during load dump) but below the absolute maximum of most 5V or 3.3V transceivers. This gives the suppressor headroom to stay out of conduction during normal operation while catching transients before they reach the protected IC. Because it uses polymer technology rather than a silicon avalanche junction, the PolySurg device exhibits lower capacitance than a standard TVS diode — important for preserving signal integrity on CAN, LIN, or high-speed data lines where added capacitance would round the edges.

AEC-Q200 and the automotive supply chain

This is the grade you need for a production BOM that goes through PPAP.
