Class AB stereo headphone driver for portable audio
The MAX9728AEUD+: Housed in a 14-TSSOP surface-mount package (4.40mm width), it includes depop circuitry to suppress turn-on clicks, plus short-circuit and thermal protection.
Output power and supply rail sizing
Rated 60mW x 2 into 32Ω, the amplifier drives typical consumer headphones to adequate listening levels without external buffer transistors. The 4.5V minimum supply means it operates from a single lithium-ion cell or a regulated 5V rail. The shutdown feature (part of the feature set) allows the output stage to be disabled, reducing quiescent current draw when the audio path is idle — useful for battery-powered designs where standby power matters.
Package and board integration
Surface-mount mounting and tube packaging suit both prototype hand-assembly and medium-volume reflow lines. The supplier device package is 14-TSSOP, so the land pattern is consistent across the Analog Devices portfolio.
Lifecycle and compliance status
ROHS3 compliant, with no known obsolescence notices.
