The Maxim Integrated MAX3080ECPD+ is a full-duplex RS-422/RS-485 transceiver in a through-hole 14-DIP package. It handles one driver and one receiver on a single 5V supply rail, with a data rate of 115Kbps. The 100 mV of receiver hysteresis cleans up noisy bus signals — useful when the cable run picks up motor drive hash or ground offsets. This is a commercial-temperature part (0°C to 70°C), so it belongs in an indoor controller, a test fixture, or a retrofit of an older PLC I/O card, not in a freezing warehouse or a sun-baked panel.

The 115Kbps data rate is suitable for standard UART-based serial links such as Modbus RTU.
